Elvezio Del Bianco

Director of The Jim Green Foundation

As a policy analyst with British Columbia’s Ministry of Health, he followed the Royal Commission on Health Care & Costs’ public hearings and supported the implementation of the Commission’s recommendations.

As a consultant with Vancity, Elvezio worked with Pier Luigi Sacco and Bob Williams on The Power of the Arts in Vancouver, a major analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of Vancouver’s creative economy.

As Vancity’s Program Manager for Cooperative Partnerships, Elvezio coordinated 16 of the credit union’s study tours to Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region, the world’s most significant cooperative economy, organized the local application of the Emilian model to bolster cooperative enterprise creation and networks, and secured a significant investment from the Province of British Columbia to support this work. Elvezio subsequently served as the Government Relations Director and Co-Executive Director of the British Columbia Cooperative Association, and as the Director of Co-op Development for the Union Co-op Initiative, and currently supports cooperative enterprises and societies as a consultant.

An essayist, Elvezio has had his work presented on CBC Radio and in print, including World Film Locations: Vancouver (Intellect Books).

Elvezio considered Jim a friend and a confidant, with whom he shared a love for the arts, the art of politics, the attributes of a perfect public square, Camus, colourful adjectives, and bourbon. Elvy was particularly inspired by Jim’s belief in the city as an inclusive, creative and –ultimately- civic space.
